If you are a sign shop looking for a trustworthy sign manufacturer to work with, it’s important to understand exactly what makes any given sign supplier and manufacturer a great choice for your business. This is especially true if you are a new, growing company and have not made this type of decision in the past.

Here are a few traits of a great sign supplier that you are going to want to look for:


Good suppliers are going to get you the exact right number of items according to your order on time in good condition. Period. You should never have to compromise on the reliability of your chosen sign manufacturer—even a small mistake could mean a loss of business on your end.

Right size for your business.

It is not inherently better for a sign manufacturer to be a large or small operation—it all depends on your company and what you’re looking for. Sometimes the best reliability comes out of larger manufacturers with backup systems and more resources. Sometimes better reliability and communication come out of smaller manufacturers who have a better ability to focus more closely on each client, especially smaller clients that might otherwise get ignored by larger companies.


Whenever you have an ongoing arrangement with any type of vendor or supplier, you want there to be clear, open lines of communication. This will ensure you stay comfortable with the arrangement at all times, and can easily make plans or adjustments if something were to ever come up or go wrong.


Obviously, it’s important to work with companies that are able to provide you with services that are within your price point. You should never force yourself into running razor-thin margins just because you decided to work with a company that was outside your price range.


It’s always a good sign if a supplier has been in business for a long time and has held on to many of the same clients for a long time as well. If this is to be a long-term ongoing arrangement, you’ll want to know you won’t have to be searching for a new supplier within a year or two after your first time working with them.
